Artist Statement:
A favorite passage of mine from Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë is: "I am no bird; and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being, with an independent will; 'I am not an angel,' 'and I will not be one till I die: I will be myself." I chose to paint writer Charlotte Brontë' as she has always been a favorite author of mine and her 'Jane Eyre' a personal heroine. I love the fierceness Jane possesses in the face of injustice, in being herself, in choosing her path and through it all still chooses to risk kindness and love.
