Artist Statement:

This piece is a celebration of Eve and her partaking & giving of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil to Adam. This act, shamed throughout history, has been used as justification to treat women as less than, flawed, weak, simple, delicate. I have a deep love for Mother Eve. This act, I believe, was performed in strength and knowing— not weakness, but courage. She left comfort, ease— the literal presence of God— to make our earthly existences possible, our opportunity for progression and exaltation. Heartache, pain, loss, tragedy, exhaustion, loneliness— costs we know from our life experience— bear witness to the peace, love, protection, rest, joy, and glory that is the presence of God. —————— Fig Leaves- awareness of vulnerability, nakedness. Wing shaped hands- Eve offering fruit to Adam. Agency. Exaltation Fruit- Knowledge of Good and Evil. Opposites. Contraries. Agency. Progression. The Sun- Jesus Christ. “The Sun”envelopes/covers the hands of both Eve and Adam. His role in the Great Plan of Happiness. Redemption. Growth. Life. Wholeness. Light. Glory.
