Artist Statement: 
One of the most personaly moving parts of the Tree of Life narrative is Lehi'simmediate desire to guide his family to the tree after he has partaken. The imageryhere is based on this parental instinct to guide one's child to the good, true, andenlightening things in this life and the next. As this piece was created at the peak ofracial justice protests in 2020, it also came to represent the yearning of my blackbrothers and sisters to partake of the same freedoms and security that their whitecountrywomen/men enjoy.
